Source of materialReagents and solvents used were of commercially available quality. The Schiff's base ligand (L) was prepared by the (1 + 1) condensation of salicylaldehyde with 1,2-diaminopropane in methanol at room temperature. Further isolation was not carried out and the ligand solution was subsequently used for the preparation of the metal complexes. To a methanol solution (5 ml) of CoCl 2 · 6H2O (238 mg, 1 mmol) was added a methanol solution (5 ml) of L (2 mmol) with stirring for 30 min. NaClO 4 (100 mg) in methanol (2 ml) was added to the above solution. Upon slow diffusion of diethyl ether into the resulting dark purple solution for four days, large dark purple prismatic crystals of the title complex were deposited and collected by filtration, respectively washed with methanol and diethyl ether and dried in a vacuum desiccator over silica gel (yield 83%).
ABSTRACT.A new polymeric zinc(II) complex, [ZnL2(PDA)]n, has been prepared by the reaction of zinc sulfate, 4-nitrophenylacetic acid, and propane-1,3-diamine (PDA) in water. Structure of the complex has been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The complex crystallizes as orthorhombic space group Pnma, with unit cell dimensions a = 15.732 (1)
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
