Ellipsoidal Guinier-Preston zones and lenticular precipitates of the a;-phase grown a t 120 "C in an A1-6.8 Zn atyo alloy are examined by means of transmission electron microscopy. For each particle two characteristic lengths are determined and the corresponding two-dimensional histograms are established. It can be shown that the precipitates monotonically flatten with increasing size. Hence, the size-shape relation did not provide any indication of the phase transition.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
