Pool boiling heat transfer coefficients were measured for saturated water at atmospheric pressure and for saturated refrigerant R113 at 102 kPa and 341 kPa. The measured heat transfer coefficients were compared with values found by other researchers and with the predictions of correlations from the literature. Bubble departure diameter, bubble frequency and nucleation site density were recorded for each experiment. A pool boiling model recently developed by Bliichl and Bier is described and limitations of the model are discussed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
