Vinyl isobutyl ether is shown to give different types of high polymers depending on the conditions of polymerization. The polymer obtained by rapid polymerization with boron fluoride catalyst is substantially amorphous and rubberlike.A second type of polymer is less rubberlike, comparatively well ordered and gives an x-ray fiber
A complete solution of colour‐matching and colour‐control problems requires the use of both spectrophotometric and colorimetric techniques. A system utilising both methods and consisting of colour‐measuring instruments and a specially designed computer is described. This system has been used extensively in the textile field for a wide variety of problems, e.g. dye formulation for minimum metamerism and minimum cost, formulation for stock dyeing and blending, formulation for union‐ and cross‐dyeings, and control of production. Experience has shown that a competent colourist using these new tools can significantly increase the speed and improve the quality of colour formulation and production control in dyeing of both synthetic and natural fibres in all types of operations.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
