The optimally of the backyard provide enormous benefits to support the nutritional needs of the family. It is one of strategies in gaining food security in the household and supporting the environment sustainability. The study was conducted in Palu Central Sulawesi in October 2021 as an evaluation survey of the technology dissemination for backyard optimization. The data were analyzed by Expected Food Pattern and scoring method for transferred technologies. The result shown that the technology dissemination increase the Food Pattern Expectation score from 74.2 to 78.0 and increase the family income up to 23%. The technologies’s implementation score consist of 20% in vertical farming, 27% in soil block nursery, 27% in the composition of planting media, 33% in nature pesticide, 27% in MOL production, and 20% in household waste composting. To increase the technology adoption, an assistance for the groups as a model and deployment for larger target are needed.
The application of artificial intelligence (AI) in modern agriculture has attracted increasing attention since its automation has the potential to accelerate food production with efficiency in resource use. Fuzzy logic, as one AI method, can be applied in hydroponics as an automation function of a nutrient mixing machine. There have been some inventions of nutrient mixing machines in commercial-scale agribusiness but not yet at the level of the small and medium farms that are mostly found in developing countries. This study constructed a hydroponics nutrient mixing machine employing a fuzzy logic method, calculated the machine’s efficiency, and evaluated its economic application. The automated nutrient mixing machine using fuzzy logic was efficient, and both theoretical field capacity and actual field capacity indicators were higher with the use of the nutrient mixing machine compared to manual nutrient mixing. This machine saves 78% of the labor normally used for mixing nutrients, with a saving of up to 42.86% in the nutrients used compared with mixing manually.
One of the important factors in the agricultural production is labour. However, most of the agricultural workforce has entered a non-productive age, while the interest of the younger generation to enter agricultural land is getting lower, especially with the traditional system. Agricultural mechanization is necessary to handle this problem. Futhermore, the most efficient machine and system will be the best choice to get farm efficiency. The study aims to evaluate the performance of three rice planting tools which were considered also based on the land topography. Data were collected to meet the requirements of technical considerations that have been set in on the standards. The results showed that the Jarwo Rice Transplanter is the most efficient regarded to the effective field capacity which was 0.391 hectares/hour. The efficiency of land management of jarwo rice transplanter is the most effective by 58.86%. This is influenced by several factors, such as the skill of the operator, soil condition, land size, wheel slip, and also the shape of the planting tool.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
