Mono-dispersed copper nanoparticles with various sizes are prepared to control the electron beam energy, beam currents, and absorbed doses. This method is a simple, quick, single step, and green process because no chemical reduction agent is used and no by product is produced. The copper particles were observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), UV-vis spectrometer, and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). Copper nanoparticles have unique properties with a surface plasmon resonance effect. The size of the nanoparticles can influence their optical properties. The positions of plasmon absorption in these copper nanoparticles can be various owing to the different sizes. It has been recognized that the plasmon position of copper nanoparticles is shifted to a long wavelength according to the increased size. The size control of the copper particles can be achieved by adjusting the electron beam irradiation conditions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
