The second language can be defined as any other language which is learned or acquired after their first language or their mother tongue. Learning or acquiring a second language can be a difficult task for anybody that wishes to speak or write in a language other than their first language. Teachers should have the basic knowledge of second language acquisition theories to provide a comprehensive teaching and learning environment to students. One of the most applied and well-accepted theories is Stephen’s Krashen’s theory of second language acquisition. The present study was carried out as an observation on students to address the importance of Krashen’s Monitor Model and the Natural Approach in the stages of second language development to ensure effective teaching of the second language. The findings show that the cause of the input factor should be taken into consideration when teaching a second language/foreign language. The findings also indicated that cooperative learning can be a good method for students to get comprehensible input from their classmates.
At the beginnings of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic altered the traditional teaching in order for the most school kids all across the globe, and online learning at homes has emerged as a growing phenomenon. This article investigates the link between both the interpersonal referential, considered proximity, and perceptions of control, as well as the educational involvement of Universities Learners, using the stimuli–organism–responses (S-O-R) type as a framework. According to the findings of this research, which was based on information from 378 university learners who participated in online learning, reported proximity, subjective norm, and interpersonal referential are all beneficial to learners' self-oriented and well-being, hence increasing their excitement for instruction. The goal is to help surveyors, teachers, developers, and others in the identification of effectiveness approaches to conceive and assess learners’ participation in e-learning courses and programs.
The pandemic has intensified issues faced by the journalism community in Malaysia. This study is an attempt to help the media industries upskill themselves in terms of the written discourse. This study describes the rhetorical structures in Malaysian newspaper reports, namely The Star, in terms of the rhetorical moves and steps by using the genre theory, corpus-based discourse analysis and corpus analysis. MyCORONAS (Malaysian Corpus of Online Newspaper Articles) corpus of 90 selected news reports consisting of crime news (TSC), environmental news (TSE) and political news (TSP) was compiled and analysed quantitatively and qualitatively to identify the frequency, functions, and patterns of rhetorical moves. The findings identified a nine-move structure for the newspaper reports. The nine-move structure consists of five optional moves and four obligatory moves. Variations in the use of the steps were observed within the sub-genres. Additionally, based on the functions of the moves, it was found that the newspaper report is a hybrid genre with various communicative functions. Based on the patterns of move distribution, the dispersion value shows that the moves are tightly clustered. To conclude, the findings of this study will heighten the awareness of ESP learners on the importance of using appropriate rhetorical moves to write a newspaper report which will help the journalism industries reform themselves during the pandemic.
AI and big data to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and review state-of-the-art solutions using these technologies. Thus, this study aimed to examine the effects of marketing mix dimensions (product, price, promotion, and place) to predict consumer behaviour, emotions and trend using AI for health care. This study will use mix method. First the qualitative research method which involved semi-structured interviews with different marketing professional belonging from different firms of Malaysia. A sample size of 10 is selected and the researcher interviewed 10 marketing professionals A quantitative approach whereby 300 questionnaires are distributed to different marketing professional from various firms in Malaysia. The analysis method used the Partial Least Square smart PLS descriptive methods. As Malaysian consumers exhibit serious concern towards to predict consumer behavior drives consumer resistance to healthcare, it is recommended that the managers focus their strategies on marketing strategies significance on to predict consumer behavior. The study discusses the implications to various stakeholders, its limitation, and recommendations for future studies.
