A 3,5-di-tert-butyl-1,2-semiquinonato (DTBSQ) adduct of Mn(II) was prepared by a reaction between Mn(II)(TPA)Cl(2) (TPA = tris(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)amine) and DTBSQ anion and was isolated as a tetraphenylborate salt. The X-ray crystal structure revealed that the complex is formulated as a manganese(II)-semiquinonate complex [Mn(II)(TPA)(DTBSQ)](+) (1). The electronic spectra in solution also indicated the semiquinonate coordination to Mn. The exposure of 1 in acetonitrile to dioxygen afforded 3,5-di-tert-butyl-1,2-benzoquione and a bis(mu-oxo)dimanganese(III,III) complex [Mn(III)(2)(mu-oxo)(2)(TPA)(2)](2+) (2). The reaction of 2 with 3,5-di-tert-butylcatechol (DTBCH(2)) quantitatively afforded two equivalents of 1 under anaerobic conditions. The highly efficient catalytic oxidation of DTBCH(2) with dioxygen was achieved by combining the above two reactions, that is, by constructing a catalytic cycle involving both manganese complexes 1 and 2. It was revealed that dioxygen is reduced to water but not to hydrogen peroxide in the catalytic cycle.
Available online xxxx Communicated by Xiang-dong Hou MSC: 94B05 11T71 05E20Generalized quasi-cyclic (GQC) codes have been investigated as well as quasi-cyclic (QC) codes, e.g., on the construction of efficient low-density parity-check codes. While QC codes have the same length of cyclic intervals, GQC codes have different lengths of cyclic intervals. Similarly to QC codes, each GQC code can be described by an upper triangular generator polynomial matrix, from which the systematic encoder is constructed. In this paper, a complete theory of generator polynomial matrices of GQC codes, including a relation formula between generator polynomial matrices and parity-check polynomial matrices through their equations, is provided. This relation generalizes those of cyclic codes and QC codes. While the previous researches on GQC codes are mainly concerned with 1-generator case or linear algebraic approach, our argument covers the general case and shows the complete analogy of QC case. We do not use Gröbner basis theory explicitly in order that all arguments of this paper are self-contained. Numerical examples are attached to the dual procedure that extracts one from each other. Finally, we provide an efficient algorithm which calculates all generator polynomial matrices with given cyclic intervals.
Streptococcus dysgalactiae subsp. equisimilis isolates (n = 110) were analyzed by PCR to determine whether the gene encoding SICG, a homolog of Streptococcus pyogenes SIC, was present. Nineteen strains (17%) had this gene of which 11 (55%) were isolated from patients with invasive disease. All 19 strains possessed group G carbohydrate. Molecular characterization of emm type revealed that the majority of emm sequences were stG643 and stG2078. Only the N-terminal sequence of SICG was similar to that of SIC in S. pyogenes. Although we found no significant relationship between pathogenic severity and sicG possession, further investigation into the mechanism of SICG may elucidate the virulence in S. dysgalactiae subsp. equisimilis infection.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
