-, Triand Tetracyclic Condensed Pyrimidines. -With a view to developing novel drugs with a better safety profile various kinds of novel compounds such as (III), (VI), (IX), (XI), and (XIV) are prepared. The antiinflammatory activity of (III) is comparable to that of indomethacin without gastric ulceration. (IXa) exerts good activity but induces gastric ulcers whereas (IXb) and (IXc) show moderate activity without ulceration.
