Indonesian people tend to view imported fruit as a more prestigious value compared to local fruit. The case of pandemic covid19 has an impact on the imported fruit market in every country, especially apples that are famous in the Indonesian domestic market, among others, coming from China. People's fear of the transmission of covid19 brings its perception for consumers in consuming fruit originating from China. The purpose of this study is to know consumer preferences towards local Malang apples and imported apples, as well as identify the factors that make up those consumer preferences. The method used is a quantitative method of description using Principle Component Analysis (PCA). The result is that consumer preferences are influenced by the price, favorite, and place of purchase of apples. While the factors that shape consumer preferences in the consumption of local apples obtained formed three factors: performance, appearance and green product and imported apples obtained three factors are performance, packaging and green product that has similarity to the description are only slightly different from the attributes formed in it.
Palm oil is a superior product from Indonesia that is continuously and widely used for daily needs such as cooking, grooming, and manufacturing. However, this potential must be supported by oil palm business actors' performance to maintain its intensity and competitiveness. This study investigates how various factors affect Indonesia's crude palm oil (CPO) export intensity and competitiveness by employing panel regression and the basic gravity model. The panel data used here is a 20-year time series with cross-sections from five major importers from 1999 to 2018. The results show that the importer's gross domestic product (GDP) and quantity of export significantly and positively affect Indonesia's CPO export intensity, while the exporter's GDP and economic distance has a significant and negative effect. The factors that positively and significantly influence competitiveness are soybean's import value and Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certification, while Malaysian CPO's export and population of importing countries negatively affect Indonesian CPO competitiveness.
Agro-tourism is a combination of tourism and farming activities that can be a solution to increase farmer income beyond production quantity’s value. Excellent service quality is the first step to agrotourism success. Therefore, this study analyses the Kampoeng Kopi Banaran agro-tourism’s service quality. The SERVQUAL, Importance Performance Analysis (IPA), and Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) methods are applied to estimate the service quality performance. Results suggest that Kampoeng Kopi Banaran agrotourism’s service quality is unsatisfactorily by the SERVQUAL method. On the other hand, the IPA method measures that there are five attributes in quadrant I (keep up the good work), five attributes in quadrant II (concentrate here), six attributes in quadrant III (low priority), and seven attributes in quadrant IV (possible overkill). The CSI method found out that customers are not satisfied with the agro-tourism service. It is necessary to improve the service quality by the provision of science and technology that facilitates visitors to learn and understand more about the environment and processes within this agro-tourism site.
Integrated Pest Management (LIPM) is an innovation of Integrated Pest Management program to achieve effective sustainable agriculture in a wide area. This program has been implemented in some regions as the Indonesia's food storages including Central Java, East Java and West Java. Research on the application of LIPM is generally related to economic aspects. This study examines farmers' willingness to continue LIPM and the factors that influence it. The research was conducted by surveying 109 farmers in Banyumas and Bojonegoro regencies who are still performing the program and the analysis was done by multinomial logit model. Based on the results of the research, it is revealed that the level of the willingness was 44.65 %, meaning that farmers are still hesitant to continue the LIPM. Age, LIPM farmers and friendship predicted the willingness to continue LIPM. In other words, it is indicated that farmers will become more willing to continue LIPM Program if they believe that the program has a positive outcome. Nevertheless, the constraints in implementing the LIPM program, attitudes towards property rights, the contribution of farming income and farming experience make farmers less willing to continue the program due to the fact that the more experienced the farmers, especially those who rented out the land and had high farming income, the more impossible for them to avoid applying pesticides for fear that their rice farming will be at risk.
Tropical vegetables are essential food sources for health. However, the consumption of vegetables in the Special Region of Yogyakarta is yet relatively low. Meanwhile, the Special Region of Yogyakarta has the potential to supply vegetable commodities. The research objective is to determine the consumption and consumer preference of the attributes of tropical vegetables. The sample of research locations were purposively selected, i.e., Colombo Market, Kranggan Market, Niten Market, Playen Market, Mirota Kampus, Superindo, and the Agrotechnology Innovation Center (PIAT UGM). The number of respondents was determined by accidental sampling with the survey of 115 respondents. Consumption of tropical vegetables is analyzed descriptively, and consumer preferences are analyzed using the Fishbein analysis. The results showed that the highest to the lowest order of tropical vegetable consumption were purple eggplant, long beans, cucumber, tomato, and chili. In addition, attributes from the preferences of tropical vegetable consumers include freshness, hygiene, convenience, benefits, color, packaging, size, taste, organic, label, and texture. The order of preference for tropical vegetables includes tomatoes, long beans, purple eggplants, chili, and cucumbers.
