Green space has an important role in enhancing environmental quality of a city. Green space often considered as a supporting element for the concept of smart city. This research intended to acknowledge the role of green space through the installation of wifi corner in urban planning towards smart city. The methods that has been used was descriptive qualitative through observation, field survey and interviews. The case study in this research were Banjarmasin and Banjarbaru which already has the smart city concepts. The result shows that green space in urban planning is a potential element towards smart city. A well good planned green space with all the facilities that connected to a good internet network in a city might help forming the concept of smart city. Keywords: green space, smart city, urban planning, wifi corner.
Banjarmasin which is known as “the thousands river city” has avery close relationship with the waterfront. However, the pressure toupgrade the quality and quantity of urban areas has urged the localgovernment to do some new projects by sacrificing some natural cityelements. This has transformed Banjarmasin’s urban waterfront and riversin many ways. This study conducted to know the effect of urban waterfrontdevelopment in forming the green space in a stream corridorneighbourhood. For this purpose, green neighbourhood elements have beenused to indicate: how the waterfront development has affected theneighbourhood; the respond of local residents of the urban waterfrontdevelopment; and as the result is the urgent need of green spaces in theneighbourhood of stream corridors. The contents of these indicators areillustrated by analysing a stream corridor neighbourhood in Banjarmasincalled Sungai Bilu. This article was based on post evaluation andunderlying ideas of how the urban waterfront transformation has affectedthe need of public green open spaces in the neighbourhoods.
Abstract: Urbanization has grown rapidly and causing series of urban problems, especially environmental degradation. Land conversion from green space into built environment gives a negative effect of urban heat island. Green city concept with green spaces is one of the effort to overcome those problems. This research intended to identify and mapping public green open space in urban area of Martapura. The method used in this research was descriptivequantitative with green city concept as the approach. The result shows that urban area in Martapura need additional public green open space in forms of active and passive green space.
Banjarmasin is dominated with the combination of land and river, which resulted many riverside areas in the city. These areas are functioned as settlements area, as well as commercial and public areas as the focus of the city’s development and the local’s daily activities. However, the rapid development in Banjarmasin still giving less attention to the development of green open spaces, despite the local connection with the river. Therefore, this research aimed to identify the local perception of green open space in the riverside areas of Banjarmasin through descriptive qualitative analysis. Questionnaires and observations in five study areas were done to obtain the local perception. The results show that the highest local perception index is for the social aspects for 87,2 points and the lowest local perception index is the spatial planning aspects for 42,6 points. Banjarmasin needs to focus more on the spatial planning of green open spaces in riverside areas and enhancing the opportunity for locals to participate in any spatial planning process (participatory planning).
Banjarmasin still struggles to improve the environmental quality of the settlements in some riparian areas that built directly above Martapura river. The settlements are densely populated with limited pathways without any open space. The local government implemented waterfront development to improve the environmental quality, such as a green village concept by installing some greeneries along the settlements to create a greener neighbourhood. The main problem was there were no available land for greenspace. The aim of this research was to design a conceptual design for green space along the river based on the evaluation of the existing condition after the green village concept already implemented. Series of field observations, interviews, and literature review was done to get an actual condition of the study area. The data analyzed with a descriptive-qualitative approach and resulted that the quality of the green space in the neighbourhood can be improved with a special green space design for the limited space. We produce a conceptual design that fulfil the criteria of green space for settlements along the Martapura river which are vertical garden, floating communal space and floating garden These concepts may suitable for green space in limited space and connected with the river as blue space
