On the 23rd March 2020, the United Kingdom was put into lockdown following an increase in infection and death rates caused by the COVID-19 global pandemic. Hospitals in the UK had to make the difficult decision to significantly reduce the risk of spreading the disease. Therefore, parental and extended family access was reduced on some Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) across the UK.
