The investigations presented here were carried out at the Technical University of Dresden and the University of Stuttgart in order to optimize the current method for the design of fish passage structures with perturbation boulders. However, in the course of the analyses it was found that the specifications of the relevant German code of practice, DVWK Bulletin 232, did not take adequate account of the leading-edge flow conditions and that there were, in parts, considerable discrepancies between the calculated and the measured values. For this reason, a modified computational approach has been derived theoretically and verified on the basis of model tests. Furthermore, a method has been developed for dimensioning these structures that has already been implemented on the first facilities.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
