In response to the scholarly call to do gender in energy policy, practice and research, the purpose of this systematic review is to investigate the existing literature at the nexus of subject areas of energy, sex and gender. We begin this project with the premise that incorporating gender is more than identifying sex-based identities, data, and needs. Moreover, to integrate transversal research beyond silos, we take the first steps towards including literature across multiple disciplines that work with the topics of energy, sex and gender. This systematic literature review aims to provide evidence of the existing knowledge base on the subject, investigate various thematic areas already explored, and identify potential avenues for further research.
