The North Cyprus tourism industry has been sensitive to the political instability on the island, which has arisen from the political problems between the Turkish and Greek Cypriots. Economic integration with Turkey and federation with the Greek Cypriots are considered to be two alternative political solutions. This paper evaluates the possible impacts of these two political scenarios on the tourism industry of North Cyprus by using semi‐structured interviews with experts and senior managers. Findings suggest that although economic integration has already been implemented to an extent, it has not contributed to the development of the tourism industry of North Cyprus as hoped. A federal solution to the Cyprus problem is expected to have a more favourable impact on the tourism industry of North Cyprus. Thus, long‐term benefits of the North Cyprus tourism industry lie with a federal solution to the Cyprus problem.
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the level of job satisfaction among faculty members of the health sciences program at a Saudi higher education institution; and predict the influence of various factors on overall job satisfaction. However, this study is quite different since it intended to evaluate the level of job satisfaction of faculty members using a self-structured questionnaire and ascertained the various factors influencing the overall job satisfaction of Saudi academics. Design/methodology/approach An exploratory study design was adopted and Academic Job Satisfaction (AJS) survey was administered to 943 faculty members of the health sciences program through an online system. A total of 850 faculty members responded to 47 items and one global rating item (overall job satisfaction) using a five-point ordinal scale. Findings The level of job satisfaction of health sciences’ faculty members on all dimensions of AJS is observed to be high (>3.5) except salary, which is shown as medium (2.5–3.49). Regression analysis indicates the factors other than Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (IAU) administrative policies and interpersonal relationships are significant predictors of overall job satisfaction; and salary is the most significant predictor of overall job satisfaction among health sciences’ faculty members. Originality/value This study adds a value to the existing literature by exploring the factors influencing job satisfaction of health sciences’ faculty members working in Saudi Universities. This would aid policy makers to focus on these factors, thereby improve and maintain job satisfaction among healthcare academics.
Tourism is expanding all over the world despite the disputes and conflicts in a number of regions. In this growth, yacht tourism has a distinct contribution. The recent Master Plan of National Harbours and Shores prepared for North Cyprus emphasizes the potential contribution of yacht tourism to the economic development of North Cyprus. In this respect, besides suggesting areas for building marinas, the plan examines the small fishing ports and makes suggestions in improving their infrastructures. North Cyprus, with its favorable climate, beautiful natural settings and historical places, appears to be an ideal place for yacht tourism. Furthermore, the prospects of a solution for the island after the last year's initiatives of the UN directed attention towards the tourism sector for improving the economic development of North Cyprus. In this study, prospects of yacht tourism, existing marinas, and potential coasts for building marinas and mooring spots in North Cyprus will be analyzed and suggestions will be made so as to not repeat the undesired experiences of other countries while benefiting from good examples.

This article explores some of the tensions that exist between these two goals as these are manifest in labour market indicators and finds the likelihood of meeting the deadline set for success remote.
