Method: This cross-sectional study consisted of 6000 pregnant women who enrolled at the obstetric polyclinic of a state hospital. 638 pregnant women were selected using a random sampling method. The data were collected between April and June 2016 using a data collection form and the Oxford Happiness Scale. In evaluating the data absolute number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, T-test and ANOVA test were employed. Findings:The mean age for the pregnant women was 27.55 ± 5.33 and the mean score on the Oxford Happiness Scale was 122.54 ± 17.18. In this study, there were significant differences observed in age during pregnancy, education level and the gender of child desired by the womens' partners and consequent happiness scores. Result:The pregnant women were found to be moderately happy on average. Young age of the pregnant woman, being highly educated, and the partner having expressed no choice in the sex of the child was associated with an increase in the level of women's happiness. Healthcare staff have a duty to educate society about gender equality.
Amaç: Bu araçtirma Malatya il merkezinde yajayân, 15-49 ya § grubu evli kadinlarin kullandiklari aile planlamasi yöntemleri ve seçme nedenlerini belirlemek amaciyla yapilmijtir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Araçtirmamn örneklemi; Malatya il merkezinde bulunan 25 saglik ocagi bölgesinde yajayan 1600 kadin çabçmaya abnmijtir. Veriler anket formu araciligi ile toplanmij; istatistiksel analizde ki-kare testi kullanilmiçtir. Bulgular: Yaj ortalamasi 34,5±7,3 olan kadinlarin %62,3'ünün modern, %37,7'sinin geleneksel aile planlamasi yöntemi kuUandigi belirlenmijtir. Kadinlar arasinda en cok kuUamlan yöntemler sirasiyla geri çekme (%35.5), Rahim ici araç (RÍA) (%25.1) ve kondom (%20.3)'dur. Modern aile planlamasi yöntemlerini; genç yaj grubu, egitimli cifüer, mcmur, gebeligi, dogumu ve çocuk sayisi az olan kadinlarin kullandiklari saptanmijtir (p<0.05). Sonuç: Bu çalijmada herhangi bir aile planlamasi yöntemi kullanan kadinlarin büyük çogunlugunun modern yöntemleri tercih ettigi, geleneksel yöntemleri kullanan kadinlarin ise daha cok geri çekme yöntemini kullandigi saptanmijür. The Evalution of Birth Control Methods and Causes of Mehhod Preference Among Married Women in Malatya.Aim: The objective of this study was to evaluate family planning methods among married women between age 15 to live in the City Center of Malatya and the factors affecting the method choosing. Method: study included 25 Community Clinics located in the city centre of Malatya. The subjects participated in the study were 1600 married women. Chi square test are used for statistical analysis of the data obtained from survey forms. Findings: The results can be summarized as follows: Mean particitans age is 34,5±7,3. Sixty two point three percent (62,3%) of the participants stated that they used modern methods for family planning whereas 37.7% used traditional methods. The mostly used methods among women were withdrawal (35,5%), IUD (25,1%) and condom (20,3%). Generally, from data, it was observed that modern family planning methods mostly used among younger adults, educated couples, women who have fewer childeren, pregnant, birth (p<0.05). Results: A great number of women who use the any kind of method of FP, preferred modern methods of FP. The women who use the traditional method of FP preferred withdrawal. Age, education and their husbands are very crucial in women's choose of methods.
