The present study investigated the antimicrobial mechanism of ε-PL by measuring the content of cytoplasmic β-galactosidase, proteins and DNA. In addition, SEM and TEM were carried out to assess the mechanism. These results show that ε-PL has the ability to decrease the content of large molecules, cellular soluble proteins and nucleic acids associated with increasing the content of cytoplasmic β-galactosidase in supernatant by causing damage to the cell membranes. Consequently, the use of ε-PL as a natural antimicrobial agent should eventually become an appealing method in the field of food preservation.
A new composite for water treatment was prepared by melt blend for oil and hexavalent chromium absorption. Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) was the matrix, calcinatory Fe 2 O 3 and anion-exchange resin 20197 were the fillers. This composite can suspend in water-oil contact (WOC) and absorb oils and hexavalent chromium in wastewater simultaneously. The absorbencies of composites changed greatly with various ratios of calcinatory Fe 2 O 3 and anion-exchange resin 20197. The results showed that the oil absorbencies increased continuously and hexavalent chromium absorbencies were stepdown as calcinatory Fe 2 O 3 loadings from 13 to 19%. The composite can adsorb oils and hexavalent chromium simultaneously. The optimized proportion of calcinatory Fe 2 O 3 and anion-exchange resin 20197 in composite was found when the absorbencies of oils and hexavalent chromium reaching the maximum simultaneously. This composite is an inexpensive, convenient and high efficiency material for removing oils and hexavalent chromium from wastewater.
In our study, a new kind of material for petrol adsorption was prepared by melt blending and molding foaming with EPDM and LLDPE as the matrix and modified glass fiber (GF) as the filler. LLDPE as the second matrix can improve the matrix reinforcement, the composite cross-linked network density was reduced, but the oil absorption rate was increasing. After recycling three times, the oil absorption rate GF/EPDM foaming composite and GF / LLDPE / EPDM foam composite were changed little, the internal cell structure can exist for a long time and showed good recycling performance.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
