This work shows a development and implementation of a high current rectifier based on the double star rectifier configuration. The proposed rectifier is controlled by a microcontroller. A routine, which controls the rectified load current, was written in assembly language. This routine implements a PI controller that generates a thyristor gate signal that controls the current flux in the converter’s input. A prototype of 6kW power and 300A current capability was build. Comparisons between the experimental and simulated results show that the mathematical model used to predict the rectifier behavior was adequate.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
