Measurements of the flow of the Kef spring, the only point of emergence of water from Eocene limestones of the Dyr el Kef synclinal basin, Tunisia, together with data on precipitation, show that two hydraulic systems operate within the limestone aquifer. The limestones are exposed over a considerable area, and because of the almost complete absence of vegetation, the intake coefficient is high.
Discusses the effect of climate on the chemical composition of ground waters. Variations in composition are correlated with the decrease in rainfall and the increase in average temperature from France to the Sahara, and depicted graphically.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
