The effect of cobalt on fibrous nickel hydroxide electrodes has been investigated. The incorporation of cobalt was found to change the mechanical properties of the active material. When the active material contains at least 5 mole percent cobalt, it is much less brittle and less sensitive to the stress incurred during cycling. This effect can be demonstrated by determining the influence of cobalt on the response of the electrode to a severe stress such as pressing.) unless CC License in place (see abstract). ecsdl.org/site/terms_use address.
