SUMMARY
In this paper I demonstrate the clinical utility of techniques referred to as ‘developmental help’ in the psychotherapeutic process with a very disturbed adult patient. The proximal goal of the suggested interventions is to engage the patient in a more ‘classical’ psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Case material and discussion are provided to clarify and show how these interventions facilitate the process of engaging these difficult to treat patients.
