Primary school children are included in the vulnerable group because they are still in a growth and development phase. In Indonesia, many accidents involve children due to their lack of knowledge, excessive energy, and high curiosity. Therefore, it is important to evaluate the application of safety values in formal education material, in order to evaluate how adequate the current teaching materials in encouraging children to practice safety culture. Petompon 2, one of the primary school used in this study, showed that 60% subjects in grade 1 contain application of safety values, and subjects from grade 2 to 6 showed that 14.3%, 90%, 100%, 87.5%, and 50% subjects, consecutively, already contain safety education. The solutions offered are improving teacher's capacity in learning process and integrating the safety values into education subjects, such as: in sport education, natural science, social science, citizenship education, Islamic religion, mathematics, and Indonesian language. Other methods available are integrating safety values into extracurricular activities and introducing educative game on safety values to primary school students.

Children in junior high school are stand in transitional period between elementary and senior high school. These junior high school students are still on the period of growth and development. Therefore, they are included as vulnerable group. They always want to move and have excessive energy, so that they have a very high risk of experiencing accident, either at school or at home. In contrast, education of safety for children in school is very minimal, either in formal education (within teaching materials, educational process, and learning facilities) or in informal education through extracurricular activities. The study design used was quantitative-descriptive with observational approach. Primary data collection was performed through Focus Group Discussion with teachers and school managers, while secondary data was obtained through documental study of teaching materials from 7 th to 9 th grade. The result showed that teaching materials, which contained education of safety, were 30.21% in 7 th grade, 6.43% in 8 th grade, and 28.13% in 9 th grade. The advice given was to increase teacher competency in applied safety science, so the teachers can develop their teaching materials into the real example during teaching process. Furthermore, the teachers can integrate the education of safety on thematic subjects or extracurricular.
In the era of Covid-19 and the implementation of the new normal, schools have a difficult task because schools not only strive to continuously improve students’ academic abilities but must follow the basic principles of always keeping students, teachers and other staffs healthy and safe when they are at school. At the same time they must participate in helping the government in stopping the spread of the Covid-19. This study aims to describe the implementation of ventilation, duration and distance at schools; Educational Information Communication/EIC media; availability of Personal Protective Equipment/PPE; the availability of Covid-19 prevention facilities; and the level of knowledge of school staff and students regarding the prevention and handling of Covid-19 at schools. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research design. From the results of the study, it can be seen that school staff and students have a good level of knowledge regarding the management of prevention and handling of Covid-19 at schools and schools have implemented ventilation standards, duration, distance well too. However, the availability of EIC media, PPE and the availability of Covid-19 prevention facilities in schools are not in accordance with the expected standard.
