Purpose-Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) has received substantial attention in entrepreneurship research in recent years. However, this aspect has not been fully considered in relation to graduate entrepreneurs in the university systems. This article aims to investigate the relationship between Entrepreneurial Orientation and Business Performance. Methodology-15 empirical research and 126 articles published in relevant journals were selected through major indexes: ISI, SCOPUS and Google Search. The methodology incorporated theses and articles which showed a relationship with the two constructs from 2000 to 2018. This article proposes a conceptual model consisting of some specific dimensions of EO: entrepreneurship desire, innovativeness, proactiveness, risk-taking and networking capability. Findings-The limited number of research conducted in this area previously does not cover the issues of graduate entrepreneurs and numerous doubts on EO remain unanswered. Conclusion-The proposed recommendations strongly advocate for future empirical research of this topic, whereby it would add new pragmatic knowledge to the existing.
Purpose -Entrepreneurship Orientation is an emerging trend that has attracted much attention presently. This study attempts to examine the relationship between individual Entrepreneurship Orientation and Business Performance among graduate entrepreneurs in the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in Sri Lanka. It is the special intension of this research, to explore this relationship within the context of different theories, models and approaches such as Entrepreneurship Theories, Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB), Lumpkin and Dess Model and Taatila Model. Methodology -Data collection was done using 109 samples through a questionnaire. The means of descriptive statistics, tests of validity, reliability and the SEM with PLS used for the analysis. Findings -The relationships between BP and Entrepreneurship Desire were (0.163), Innovativeness (0.255), Proactiveness (0.318), Networking Capability (0.264) and Risk-taking (0.062). Conclusion -The relationship between individual EO for the four dimensions and BP is significant and positive while Risk-taking showed the insignificant result.
Purpose-The objective of this article is to examine the components of entrepreneurial leaning based on competency approach, motivation and traits theories to propose a conceptual framework with knowledge, skills, attitudes, motivation and traits. A severe shortage of studies relevant to Sri Lanka is observed in comparison with the western countries where specific dimensions linked with entrepreneurial leaning have been revealed. Methodology-These specific dimensions are selected instead of others based on the more practical application for the graduate entrepreneurs in the education sector in Sri Lanka and it is a new trend in the academic perspective. Finding-It is significant that research conducted up to now, education activates of graduate entrepreneurs in the university system is lack a general frame, where queries on the subject of EL still remain unreciprocated. Conclusion-The proposed recommendations strongly advocate for future empirical research of this valuable topic, thus adding new knowledge to the existing.
Purpose-This empirical research proposes to find out the impact of individual factors on the business performance of women entrepreneurs with special reference to Gampaha district, Sri Lanka. Design/ Methodology/ Approach-A theoretical framework developed by the author is proposed based on how three main independent variables of domestic commitment, financial capabilities and network affiliation influence the business performance of women entrepreneurs. The structured questionnaires, developed by the author were distributed among 185 of women entrepreneurs in Small Enterprises Development Centre in the Gampaha district. The collected data were analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. Findings-Results revealed that the independent variables of financial capabilities, domestic commitment and network affiliation have a positive significant impact on the dependent variable which is business performance. The results further showed that financial capability has the highest impact on business performance of women entrepreneurs in Gampaha district, Sri Lanka.Research Implications-The study has several limiting factors. The scope of the study had to be restricted to women entrepreneurs in Gampaha district, who were selected through simple random sampling method. Practical Implications-The findings recommend to promote entrepreneurial culture in Sri Lanka, improve the accessibility to finance, improve mentorship, advisory and business supportive services in order to enhance the business performance. Originality/ Value-The study suggests that the theories adopted from western developed countries in relation to women entrepreneurship should be cautiously tested and examined before adopting to developing Asian country like Sri Lanka. .
It is unspoken that insufficient investigation studies have been shown in the Sri Lanka on recognize the association between monetary and women entrepreneurs venture performance while Colombo Mid City is not well thought out in any of these. The main issue of the study is to examine if there is any association between Monetary Organizations and Venture Performance of Women Entrepreneurs in Colombo mid-City, Sri Lanka through this study. With the inadequate finances and the complicated process of formal monetary organizations as well as the inability to disrupt the slabs to elevate the women entrepreneur's venture performances, it is clear that women entrepreneurs come across numerous problems. Hence, monetary as a financial tool for women entrepreneurs can be regarded as a vital aspect. Therefore, the main objective of the study is to evaluate the association between monetary organizations and venture performance of women entrepreneurs. This research study covers the Colombo Mid City area in Sri Lanka. A sample of 122 women entrepreneurs were selected as respondents for the data collection done through a structured questionnaire. The convenient sampling technique was used in choosing the sample. Statistical Package for Social Sciences through reliability, factor, correlation and regression analysis were performed for the collected data. The findings indicated that monetary show a positive effect on the venture performance of women entrepreneurs in Colombo Mid City, Sri Lanka. However, the study findings were only based on Colombo Mid City, and did not represent the entire island. Therefore, future research need to focus on these aspects in order to improve the outcome of this type of research.
