Utilization of metal mesh particles as a support material in biological waste treatment and fermentation technology offers special advantages over other immobilization methods. A theoretical analysis of fluidized bed bioreactors utilizing metal mesh support particles is presented and optimization of important parameters for rational design of metal mesh particles is discussed.
In waste water treatment, sedimentation is an important process which removes 30% of 5 daybiochemical oxygen demand (BOD 5 ). The mechanism of sedimentation involves too many parameters, such as particle diameter, water temperature, overflow rate, suspended matter loading, etc. In this study, an empirical expression has been developed to describe the sedimentation process which occurs in anaerobic waste stabilization ponds (AWSPs) using a labscale semi-continuous reactor.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
