The electronic structure of the heavy fermion system YbMgCu 4 was studied using synchrotron radiation photoemission spectroscopy. We observed a sharp peak of the Yb 2+ 4 f 7/2 state in a wide temperature range. The energy scale of the 4 f 7/2 peak at zero-temperature limit was estimated as |ω| ∼ 69 meV, which is in agreement with the characteristic temperature deduced from the magnetic susceptibility measurements. Our results suggest that the observed 4 f 7/2 state is associated with the heavy fermion behavior of YbMgCu 4 .
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
