Polystyrene (PS) core–TiO2 shell composite particles and TiO2 hollow spheres were fabricated using the liquid phase deposition (LPD) method. Composite particles were prepared using PS particles as templates. Calcination of the composite particles resulted in TiO2 hollow spheres. Uniform TiO2 hollow spheres were obtained when the reaction time of the LPD process was between 4 and 8 h. Furthermore, we fabricated TiO2 hollow spheres whose inner surfaces were functionalized by Pt particles after platinized PS particles were used as templates. The Pt particles were immobilized on the inner surfaces of the hollow spheres.
Anatase TiO2 with three-dimensional ordered macroporous structure has been fabricated by the liquid phase deposition method using colloidal template formed by self assembling of polystyrene latex spheres of 199nm diameter as a substrate. The interstitial spaces of template were completely filled with TiO2 by the liquid phase deposition method. Heat treatment of the polystyrene-TiO2 composite film resulted in three-dimensional ordered macroporousTiO2. The obtained three-dimensional ordered macroporous TiO2 have sharp reflectance peak at 350nm indicating that the sample exhibits the behavior of a photonic crystal.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
