This paper proposes reservation-based concurrency control (RBCC) for distributed UPnP devices. The RBCC provides time synchronization between UPnP control points and device through precision timing protocol (PTP, IEEE1588). The PTP provides a standard method to synchronize devices on a network with submicrosecond precision. And the RBCC provide additional functions such as interfaces for reservation time of UPnP service. With those functionalities, the UPnP control point can operate the UPnP services in the distributed UPnP devices synchronously. We demonstrate our proposed architecture through implementation and evaluation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
