This study revealed that A. japonicus had multiple copies of genes encoding plastidic ACCase, and each gene was able to carry its own mutation. It also established the clear importance of the W1999C and W1999L mutations in conferring resistance to ACCase-inhibiting herbicides.
A selective excitation of [Ir(df-ppy)(pic)] and [Ru(bpy)] through tuning the electrode potential is reported in this work. Bidirectional color change from blue-green to red could be observed along with increase and decrease of the potential, which was ascribed to the dual-potential excitation property of [Ir(df-ppy)(pic)]. Similar to the three-electrode system, selective excitation of ECL could be achieved at the anode of the bipolar electrode (BPE). Both increase and decrease of the faradic reactions at the cathode of the BPE could induce ECL reporting color at the other pole switched from blue-green to red. We applied a closed BPE device for the bioanalysis of multicolor ECL since the organic solvent containing electrochemiluminophores could be separated from the bioanalytes. On the basis of BPE arrays coupled with the ECL switch, the detection of three biomarkers of prostate cancer, PSA, microRNA-141, and sarcosine were integrated in a same device. The cutoff values of the biomarkers could be recognized directly by the naked eye. Such a device holds great potential in the early diagnosis of prostate cancer.
Little published information is available related to seed germination and seedling establishment of Asia Minor bluegrass, a problematic grass weed in some regions of China. The objective of this study was to examine the effects of different environmental factors on Asia Minor bluegrass seed germination. The optimum temperature for germination was around 10 to 20 C, and more than 90% of seeds germinated under 20/10 and 25/15 C temperature regimes. Also, light and pH did not appear to have any effect on seed germination. Asia Minor bluegrass was sensitive to osmotic stress, but tolerant of NaCl. No seedlings emerged when seeds were buried 4 cm deep. The result suggested that Asia Minor bluegrass has the potential to spread into a large area in China. To prevent its spreading, measures such as soil cultivation can be used to limit seed germination from increased burial depth and/or nonselective herbicides can be applied to kill early-germinating weed seedlings in late summer.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
