AbstractPurpose -To provide the knowledge structure for an effective knowledge-based organization which integrates knowledge into organizational goals. Design/methodology/approach -The structure, function, and process of a viable organization were discussed which provided a basis to construct a knowledge management (KM) framework and demonstrate knowledge structure in a knowledge-based organization. Based on systems view and viable systems model (VSM), a range of recently published KM practices were reviewed to position various knowledge content. Findings -This study proposed a viable systems framework for organizational KM based on the VSM of Beer. Using the viable systems framework, organizational knowledge can be classified into four categories. Knowledge content was articulated based on the systems view. Thus, knowledge structure of various management hierarchies can be captured. Originality/value -The result contributes to the practice of knowledge executive by supporting the diagnosis and design of an effective knowledge-based organization. The framework also provides a basis for future empirical studies on the relationships between KM strategies and organizational effectiveness. A specific KM strategy exists that can maximize the effectiveness of each of the four types of knowledge.
The service robot described herein is an engineering application combining mechanical technology and computer science. For service robots, intelligence is the core competence. The humanoid intelligent service robot developed at Chienkuo Technology University will possess fi ve intelligent capabilities: marketing, advertisement, acceptance, guidance, and security. It must therefore be taught to obtain intelligence. The purpose of this research is to describe how an instructor teaches the humanoid intelligent service robot. First, according to the required basic action and distinct service script, the robot instructor demonstrates the basic human action. The digital 3D motion capture system captures these motions via video. The movements of the robot instructor's limbs and trunk will be digitized, encoded, and stored in the robot's intelligent computer memory. When service instructions activate the robot, it will replay the motions taught using 27 DC motors, 5 DC servo motors, and 10 solenoids.
Mechanical Industry is a typical technology-intensive industry that is the Taiwan industrial development base. Precision machining includes complex professional technical knowledge. Technician uses a self-understanding way to label the machining setting. This setting implies important technical knowledge, but is difficult to teach others. Furthermore, when changes machining parts, technician needs to review and modify machining parameter and program due to the limit of human memory, Manufacturing process may be delayed when machining adjusting can not achieve program optimization. It is common problem face small and medium enterprises. The topic of knowledge management has wide application in knowledgeintensive industry, but less attention in technical field. Technical knowledge tends to be tacit. Personal tacit knowledge must convert to explicit knowledge, and then personal knowledge is possible to preserve and spread to organization. In this research, we select a typical CNC milling parts in precision machining, systematic analyze machining procedure, and utilize documentation strategy to construct machining knowledge management system. The outcome of this knowledge sharing platform can be a template for other precision machining.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
