Investigation were undertaken to study the effect of different levels of nitrogen (0, 100, 120, 140 kg haG 1 ) alone and in combination with constant doses of phosphorus (90 kg haG 1 ) on growth and yield of Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) Cv.T-13 at Agriculture Research Station (North) Mingora, Swat during 1997. Maximum plant height (185 cm), number of pods per plant (24.59), pod length (12.63 cm), and the highest pod yield per hectare (16950.79 kg) was recorded in plots fertilized with 120:90:60 kg ha --1 . No significant differences were observed in days to emergence, flowering, and first picking respectively.
Significant differences in the five cultivars of mungbean namely , N-41 and a local were observed in all the characters studied. Cultivar NM-121-25 had maximum: number of pods plantG 1 (18.18), grain podG 1 (9.79), harvest index (16.87%) and grain yield kg ha G1 (466) and minimum shattering (3.5%). Seed rate of 10 kg haG 1 had maximum: pods plantG 1 (19.70), grain podG 1 (10.40), harvest index (22.01) and minimum Shattering of 4.55%, but lowest grain yield of 413 kg haG 1 mainly because of substandard plant population. Seed rate of 20 kg haG 1 seems optimum as it although ranked second in all traits studied here but gave highest grain yield of 486 kg haG 1 and could be due to the most desirable population in the existing environment.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
