The study investigates the impact of customer incivility, job stress, perceived supervisor support, and perceived co-worker support on the turnover intention of frontline employees. A survey-questionnaire approach was used to collect the point of view of frontline employees that work in five-star hotels in a metropolitan city of Korea. Four independent variables that were extracted from valid theoretical backgrounds along with four demographic variables were used in the study. The regression analysis was conducted to test the hypotheses, which revealed that job stress directly affected the employees’ desires to leave their organization. It also showed that perceived supervisor support mitigates employee turnover, and there were significant correlations between turnover intention with the employees’ marital status and job position. Gender and years of service did not affect the employees’ thinking of quitting their job. Our findings help hotel entrepreneurs better understand how to deal with customer incivility and employee job stress, and better comprehend the factors that minimize employees’ negative behaviors for the organization.
The present research was an empirical endeavor to build a sturdy theorization linking trust in supervisor and co-worker supports, emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, reduced personal accomplishment, and hotel employee turnover at workplace. A quantitative approach and survey methodology were utilized. This research successfully explored the intricate associations between trust-in-support factors and burnout dimensions and uncovered the possible influence of such relationships on employee turnover in the hotel context. In addition, emotional exhaustion and reduced personal accomplishment among burnout constituents significantly affected turnover. These variables also strengthened the influence of trust in supervisor support on hotel employee turnover, acting as significant mediators. A salient role of emotional exhaustion in escalating employee turnover was unearthed. Overall, this research demonstrated the importance of trust in support and its role in reducing the burnout phenomenon among hotel employees and explaining their voluntary turnover decision formation in a satisfactory manner.
Little is known about cruise passengers’ post-purchase behaviours and what makes them repurchase eco-friendly cruise trips. This research is an empirical attempt to explore the role of cruise line quality, image, physical environment excellence, satisfaction, and awareness of consequences in determining passenger repurchase intentions in the green cruise line sector. A quantitative method that comprised a structural equation model and an invariance test was used. Our findings revealed that quality, image, and physical environment excellence acted as significant drivers of satisfaction and intention, and cruise line quality had the greatest influence on intention. In addition, satisfaction, which was the most proximal determinant of intention, had a mediating effect. The physical environment excellence and intention relationship was moderated by awareness of consequences. The proposed conceptual framework in general had a sufficient level of prediction power for passenger repurchase intention. Findings of this study can be efficiently used for passenger retention among green cruise line practitioners.
Diabetic nephropathy is a microvascular complication of diabetes that is characterized by mesangial expansion and thickening of the glomerular basement membrane. The production of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) increases in diabetic patients. Activation of the receptor of AGE (RAGE) signaling pathway induces mesangial expansion via the reactive oxygen species (ROS)-mediated production of pro-inflammatory and extracellular matrix molecules. The Psoralea corylifolia L. seed (PCS) is a widely used herbal medicine with various biological activities. The current study investigated the effect of PCS extract on mesangial cell proliferation and the RAGE signaling pathway in SV40 MES 13 cells. SV40 MES 13 cells were harvested after treatment with various concentrations of PCS extract at 10 µg/ml AGEs for 24 h. The results revealed that the PCS extract inhibited AGEs-induced mesangial cell proliferation and cyclin protein expression in a concentration-dependent manner. In addition, the AGEs-induced expression of fibrotic factors, such as transforming growth factor β, fibronectin and collagen, was reduced in mesangial cells after exposure to the PCS extract. The PCS extract also reduced RAGE expression and inhibited the expression of its downstream signaling pathways, such as NADPH oxidase, intracellular ROS and phospho-NF-κB. In conclusion, the data suggested that the PCS extract attenuated AGEs-induced renal mesangial cell proliferation and fibrosis via the suppression of oxidative stress and the downregulation of inflammatory and fibrotic factor expression.
