To prevent damage in cases of fire, buildings are constructed to be fireproof, and fire partitions are established. However, fire accidents frequently cause injuries and property damage. Therefore, in this study, a 2 h test was conducted to investigate the stud floor plate as a standard for horizontal support structures, and the possibility of fire spreading due to radiation from non-heated surfaces of ducts penetrating through the fire partition was analyzed. The experimental results revealed that the floor plate exhibited a good fire resistance performance for 2 h and the radiant temperature of the duct penetrating through the fire partition was less than 233 °C, the firing temperature of paper, indicating that there was little possibility of fire diffusion.
The rapid advancement of mobile communication technologies recently has led to the advent of mobile IPTV service. For a variety of multimedia services, a process of session setup using SIP(session initiation protocol) is required. However, high frame error rate (FER) of typical wireless network causes failure and delay in session setup. In this paper we propose a new scheme minimizing the session setup delay. The proposed scheme estimates the congestion probability by analyzing the FERs of successive transmissions. Through this, the retransmission timer interval (RTI) is set to minimize the session setup delay time. Computer simulation confirmed that the proposed scheme significantly reduces the setup time by properly adjusting the RTI in the rapidly changing wireless network in comparison to the previously proposed retransmission scheme.
Recently, the ubiquitous computing paradigm rapidly evolves and the agent technology attracts lots of researchers applying it to various applications. In the ubiquitous environment, the multiple agent system is able to provide customized service to the users by effectively utilizing the distributed system resource. In this paper we propose a dynamic prediction-based approach for both load balancing and agent pool management. It can reduce the response time for service request by avoiding unnecessary agent migration and creation of agents. The experiments reveal that the proposed scheme significantly reduces the response time compared with the existing scheme.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
