Attacks, the initial stage of which is the actions of an attacker who use the methods of social engineering, are currently one of the most common types of attacks. When using social engineering, an attacker seeks to obtain confidential information and access to various segments of the enterprise of interest, through psychological influence and manipulation of users. In order to successfully carry out an attack with the help of social engineering, it is necessary to gain the trust of a "victim", which is successfully carried out via targeted (personalized) phishing. Due to the relative ease of implementation, there is a rapid increase in the use of targeted phishing attacks on both home PCs and computers of employees of big companies. Targeted phishing attacks are carefully thought out to influence a certain type of people, and it is almost impossible to teach users to distinguish them. This article describes the concepts and methods of targeted phishing, as well as solutions and ways to protect against this type of attack. In addition, this article is an attempt to teach users to recognize targeted phishing emails. The article provides examples of attacks using targeted phishing.
The article considers the problem of organizing the process of testing samples of weapons and military equipment in terms of selection and appointment for testing of engineering and testing personnel. A mechanism for the distribution of personnel is proposed, which should be an integral part of the automated information system for supporting the testing of weapons and military equipment. Based on the functional modeling of the test system, the main processes to which the personnel of the test organization are involved are detailed. The basic principles of personnel involvement, which can influence the system of appointment and distribution of test engineers at different stages of testing, are formulated. The mechanism is based on the tools of project management personnel management. Structural and functional schemes of the subsystem of personnel appointment at different stages of formation of a team of testers are offered. The expected beneficial effect of automating the appointment of personnel during mass tests is to reduce the time associated with the appointment of the team and the preparation of relevant guidance and accompanying documents, ensuring the best match between the tasks of testing samples of weapons and testers, establishing an effective system of analysis and assessment of compliance of individual competencies of the staff of test engineers.
The article proposes a variant of the technical approach in evaluating of the characteristics of multi-core balanced nonquadded cables for digital communication systems. The list of modern standards of the International Electrotechnical Commission, and also the National standards of Ukraine and the international standards which are created on their basis is presented. The proposed standards define the general requirements for communication cables, offer verifying methods for the design, structural dimensions, and materials of elements, marking and packaging. In addition, the provisions of these standards define the methods of testing the electrical characteristics, survivability and resistance of the cable to climatic and mechanical factors. A list of proposed cable characteristics, i.e. electrical, survivability and resistance to environmental influences, is sufficient to assess the cable for compliance with the stated requirements. The list of considered characteristics is not exhaustive and can be supplemented or changed depending on requirements of the customer. On the example of using the automatic measuring system AESA 9500 made in Sweden to measure electrical characteristics, the possibilities of optimizing the process of evaluating the characteristics of the cable through the use of modern automatically controlled measuring systems, which will significantly reduce the time and cost of evaluation are considered. The approach presented in the article to the evaluation of the characteristics of multi-core balanced nonquadded cables for digital communication systems can be used during the testing of the cable planned for delivery to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
