The main ecological challenges of agricultural production of Ukraine in conditions of European integration are considered. The relevance of the chosen topic is justified by the high agricultural potential of Ukraine, which has common values and common interests with the European economic space. This is confirmed by the benchmarking analysis of the security and efficiency of land use in Ukraine among the EU-28 countries. It is known that the life quality of the society depends on the health of the environment, and the intensification level of the agricultural production and processing sector. Studies have shown that Ukraine lags behind the EU countries both in terms of living standards and social development. Therefore, the issue of forming a program to protect the soil resources of Ukraine from degradation and their effective use, with respect to social needs and environmental risks, is an important problem for the European countries as a single ecological system. The authors identify areas for agricultural production intensification in Ukraine, taking into account the requirements for quality and safety of the products. The need for the legal framework harmonization to regulate agricultural production and ensure sustainable development of ecosystems on the principles of a green economy is substantiated.
Abstract. The research is devoted to the problem of the ruminant bulky feed market formation in Ukraine in conditions of the world economic integration processes. The dynamics of bulk feed production in Ukraine, supply and demand in the domestic market have been studied. By means of benchmarking price trends in the hay market in Ukraine and England are analyzed. The study found that feeding ruminants will be complete only if all nutrients and biologically active substances are available in the diet in optimal quantities and ratios. Regression analysis proved the direct dependence of cow productivity on production and supply of bulk feed. It is established that Ukraine has favorable natural and economic conditions to meet domestic demand for bulk feed and for the formation of significant export potential. It was found that the integration process of Ukrainian agricultural producers into the world market requires constant analytical study of the sectorial market changes, considering peculiarities of domestic production of bulk feed, highlighting key factors of Ukraine’s presence and potential in the agricultural market of Europe and Asia with account of safety and quality criteria of feed, environmental, social and economic sustainability of feed suppliers. Among the main factors improving the situation on the market of bulky feed are the following: introduction of new technologies for hay and pelleted feed production; creation of feed centers for the industrialized high-quality feed procurement and composing rational mixed diets for various farm animals; development of state programs to support feed production; formation of the legislative basis for the feed industry development; further standardization and certification of its products in accordance with international and European requirements, aimed at promoting integration in the world market and achieving sustainable competitive advantages. The research is devoted to the problem of formation of high-protein feeds market for farm animals in Ukraine in conditions of European integration processes. The problem of providing the population with high quality food is becoming more global, the demand for high protein food products of a good quality is growing as well as the need for protein-balanced feeds for livestock. The dynamics of high-protein feed production in Ukraine and EU countries has been studied. The tendencies of the high-protein feeds market formation in Ukraine are considered. By means of benchmarking, price trends in the protein feed market in the EU and Ukraine have been analyzed. Ukraine has favorable soil and climatic conditions for the production of quality, safe products as well as efficient logistic routes available. As a result of the study it was found that the key factor for Ukraine’s penetration into the EU feed market is the need for high-protein feeds. The directions of solving the problem of feed protein deficiency for the needs of animal husbandry are determined. Environmental problems regarding feed quality and safety in the context of Ukraine’s aspirations for European integration are substantiated. The legislative basis for ensuring the quality and safety of feed and feed resources is considered. As a result of SWOT-analysis of vegetable protein production in Ukraine, it was found that Ukraine has significant potential for the production of competitive feed protein that meets domestic needs, form high export potential and promote entry into European and Asian markets. It is emphasized that the process of Ukraine’s European integration requires constant marketing research of the sectoral situation changes with account of the specific features of domestic production of high-protein feeds, highlighting key factors of Ukraine’s presence and its potentialities in the EU agricultural market and outlining the prospects for its development. Increase in the performance of farm animals and margins of livestock production requires balanced diets and reduction of feed cost in the costs structure due to the use of high protein feeds. It is important for Ukraine to promote the development of the market for high-protein and bulk feeds on the industrial basis as well as the development of organic feed and livestock production. Development of the competitive feed market in Ukraine and solving of the environmental and social problems of intensive animal husbandry requires the improvement of legislation to meet the requirements of EU Directives on the production, processing and efficient use of feed resources.
Purpose. To determine the impact of development of the domestic feed market on the efficiency of livestock industry in agricultural enterprises of Ukraine. Methods. The theoretical and methodological basis of the study was the dialectical method of cognition. The study used specific methods: monographic, economic and statistical, analysis and synthesis. Results. It is established that the Ukrainian market of compound feeds and premixes shows a tendency to the decrease in the level of production and reduction of demand, except for the poultry industry. Positive factors of domestic feed market development are highlighted – growth of demand for roughage (silage and haylage), increase of meal production, growth of cattle and poultry productivity in agricultural enterprises due to optimization and balance of rations feed conversion and share of feed cost in cost structure decreases. Negative factors and threats to the market have been identified – a decrease in the number of farm animals, low purchasing power of consumer companies and farms, lack of state support for livestock, rising prices for forage crops and increase in the cost of livestock products. Conclusions. The domestic feed market in Ukraine is developing in terms of increasing the industrial production of feed, meal and premixes for farm animals. Activation of the domestic feed market has a positive effect on the animal husbandry efficiency. Development of the domestic feed market requires: efficient participation of the state in terms of creating a regulatory framework for economic relations between market participants, a balanced foreign policy on export-import flows of feed and feed resources, strict regulation of feed quality and safety in the “soil – plant – feed – animal” system.
Purpose. Development of animal husbandry is dependent on quality feed production. The activity of the field feed production as a synthetic industry is associated with the preparation of feed, their long-term storage due to the preservatives, appropriate packaging. The article discusses the optimal models for the production, harvesting, storage of forages, taking into account the peculiarities of technological parameters, production technologies of harvesting and storage. The role of feed production optimization for agricultural enterprises, aimed at meeting the needs of the commercial animal husbandry using elements of simulation is clarified and effectiveness of commercial feed production formation as a synthetic industry is revealed. Methods. In the process of the research, the following methods were used: theoretical generalization, economic model and analysis of absolute, relative and average values. Theoretical generalization – to determine the importance of the development of the feed market and commercial feed production. Economic model – to reveal the interdependence and connection between various economic phenomena and processes in production and storage of various types of feeds. Analysis of absolute, relative and average values – for the technical and economic characteristics of storage types of silage and haylage. Results. The real development of fodder production is seen in the transformation of cultivated crop products, in particular grain, into finished livestock products. It is possible, due to cross-sectoral integration, to sell not only raw materials, ready-made high-quality feed to the market to meet the needs of live-stock production. Conclusions. A special place in the implementation of the innovative policy of the field feed production belongs to the transfer of innovations in the "field-storage-feeder" system, which will act as one of the effective tools for ensuring the increase in production of high-quality feed. It was found that there are no narrowly targeted government programs for the development of fodder production as a synthetic industry.
