Amblyceps arunachalensis and A. apangi are redescribed. A. arunachalensis has been resurrected from synonymy with A. mangois. A. arunachalensis markedly differs from A. mangois in general appearance of the body, the caudal fin lobes, eye diameter, caudal peduncle height, interorbital space, and the number of vertebrae. A. arunachalensis differs from A. apangi in characteristics relating to the rictal fold, caudal peduncle length, caudal peduncle height, caudal fin, fold on lips, adipose fin, and number of vertebrae.
Puntius ater and P. khugae, two new species of fishes, each having a black longitudinal stripe on the side, are described from the Chindwin basin in Manipur, India. Puntius ater, which inhabits sluggish streams is distinct in having the dorsal fin edge black, the lateral line incomplete with 5–11 pored scales, 25–29 scales in the lateral row; transverse scales ½4/1/4½; preanal scales 20; and a black blotch extending over the 19th and 20th scales of the lateral-line row at the level above the posterior end of the anal fin base. Puntius khugae, inhabiting comparatively faster, clear-water streams is distinct in having the dorsal fin edge plain, the lateral line incomplete with 8–11 pored scales, 28–30 scales in the lateral row; transverse scales ½5/1/4½; preanal scales 19; and a black blotch on the 21st scale of the lateral-line row at the level above one scale behind the origin of the last anal fin ray. Morphological traits observed in P. ticto and P. stoliczkanus are given, and the status of these species is discussed
Sisorid catfishes of the genus Glyptothorax of Manipur, India is revised. Glyptothorax ngapang sp. nov., G. granulus sp. nov. and G. chindwinica sp. nov. are described from Chindwin basin of the state. Characteristic differences in the new species include: G. ngapang sp. nov. in its well tuberculated skin and slender caudal peduncle; G. granulus sp. nov. in having granulated skin and thoracic adhesive apparatus width 78.9-85.0% its length; and G. chindwinica sp. nov. in having large head, depth at nape 55.8-56.7% HL, teeth on upper jaw as broad patch, lateral extent of lower jaw tooth band more than that of upper, and thoracic adhesive apparatus with a shallow pit in the centre. G. manipurensis is differentiated from G. striatus and its status and synonymy with G. sinense is discussed. A key to identification of species of the genus of the state is given.
Akysis prashadi is redescribed and reported from India. Laguvia manipurensis, whose generic placement was disputed has been assigned to genus Akysis and is redescribed. A. prashadi is distinct in having comparatively slender caudal peduncle, skin with tubercles all over body, lateral line incomplete while A. manipurensis, in having deeper body, deep caudal peduncle, skin sparsely granulated and lateral line complete.
