The study concerns the ostracod local biozonation and interbasinal correlation of the Frasnian strata within the East European Platform. The biozones are mainly environmentally controlled local assemblage zones. The taxonomic compositions and stratigraphic distributions show great similarities that have proved to be useful for intrabasinal correlations.During the Frasnian, the East European Platform (EEP) was covered by epicontinental tropical-subtropical seas, providing favourable conditions for the development of diverse and abundant fauna including ostracods. In the Frasnian strata, ostracods are an important component of the fossil assemblages and occur almost ubiquitously. Selected aspects of the Frasnian ostracods of the EEP have been examined in a number of publications, with emphases on taxonomy, biostratigraphy, or palaeoecology (Batalina
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
