Upcoming period makes opportunities for electricity companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina for providing telecom services on liberalized telecom market. They investigate power line potential as communication access medium, for delivering broadband services to their customers. Power line characteristic, such as: frequency band, impedance mismatch, channel attenuation, noise and modulation techniques are discussed in this paper. The paper, also, presents the planned measurements that will be used for defining conditions for PLC implementation project in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
1 -Problems that Power Line Communication (PLC) technology is faced to are different classes and types of conductors used for construction of medium and low voltage networks (non-insulated conductors, underground cables, aerial bundled conductors, semi-insulated conductors). These problems complicate unified implementation and installation of PLC equipment. Characteristics of respectable types of power lines and topologies in operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina's electricity distribution networks analysis are presented in paper. Certain measurements of characteristics and QoS parameters of Low Voltage (LV) lines, when are used as broadband communication channel are suggested. Results of suggested measurements, discussed in this paper, will contribute to develop the strategy for applicability of Low Voltage networks of Electricity Distribution Companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H), to provide telecom broadband services.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
