This paper presents two elastic systems which protect the pipe by reducing the celerity. We propose two options for protection: the first solution named "barrel jacket", where the wall pipe consists of an elastic inner layer soldered in the steel pipe (rubber) which has no role in resistance and the second solution named "elastic cylinder", where in the ordinary pipe, is disposed longitudinally a cilinder with small section, fabricated from an elastic material (rubber). The common idea is that the overpressure strain the elastic element and so the flow area increase while the celerity decrease. We give the formula for celerity in the both cases and two graphical representation which showes the dependence of the celerity on the given parameters.
The aim of this study is to obtain the extreme wave propagation at the entrance of Constanta maritime port area, as well as the impacts on port operations. The wave propagation modeling took into account the bathymetry of the harbor in the area of interest, updated port extensions layout, measurements and digitized bathymetric maps. For the selected offshore waves directions, considered for the harbor entrance area, the incident waves of maximum impact and the peak period values corresponding to the extreme heights of the significant wave at different return periods were calculated. For this study it was used a mild-slope wave propagation numerical model. The model provided quantitative evaluation of the vulnerability induced by the wave agitation on the port developing areas and an overview on hydrodynamic conditions which are the basis for various shelter facilities developments in Constanta Harbor, in extreme events circumstances.
This paper is one detailed research of the major river basins of the Romanian North Dobrogea, Taita River Catchment. The Taita River has a catchment size of about 591 km 2 and is flowing into the Black Sea through Topraichioi Lake after 57 km. Upstream it has an elevation about 240 m height and 0 m at downstream (the reference is the Black Sea). The complexity of this research study is given, on the one hand, by the descriptive side of the natural aspects (geological, morphological, climatic aspects, hydrology and the soil) and, on the other hand, by the practical side, boosted by the information system processing of data. This study presents the theoretical concepts concerning the hazards and the risk, which, for a better interpretation of the impact of these phenomena, are supplemented by the maps, graphs and photographs.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
