A comparison study of the use of two different heat removal units was conducted to examine the performance of thermoelectric cooler box. The heat removal units employed were a heat sink fin-fan and a double fan heat pipe. Parameters measured as performance indicators are cooling capacity, temperature differences, and COP. In addition, the effect of electrical power on temperature difference and COP was also investigated. The cooler box size is 285 mm x 245 mm x 200 mm and constructed from styrofoam. The results show that there is no difference of the use of a double fan heat pipe or a heat sink fin-fan on the cooler box performances. The Carnot COP decreases with the time, while the experimental COP increases with the time then it is constant after the steady condition has been achieved. Increasing the power decreases the COP but increases the temperature difference.
Clean water is a requirements of very important human life. Indonesia is a maritime country that has many islands surrounded by ocean, had a decreased clean water problem. One of the method to be used for obtain clean water is sea water distillation process. One of the most important tools is absorber distillation. occurs heat transfer from the absorber to the sea water causing, rising sea temperatures cause sea water to evaporate. The rising temperature of the sea water increases the amount of evaporation that occurs. The more the amount of evaporation generated will increase the number of fresh water produced.Increased seawater temperatures by increasing the temperature absorber, so it needs to be analyzed shape of the absorber which one can be produce more clean water than the others, a conclusion of the study indicated that solar distillation plat shape with a huge wave absorber produces more clean water than the others , the average amount of water that is more of 908 ml, compared with a small wave absorber plate only produce 764.4 ml average a day and a flat plate absorber only produce 599 ml average a day, it is not independent of heat absorption by absorber, solar distillation plat shape with a huge wave absorber absorbs more heat than the other two absorber plates, this has resulted in solar distillation shape with a huge wave absorber plate very well produce more water than the otehrs.

PENDAHULUANKebutuhan akan energi semakin harisemakin meningkat seiring dengan bertambahnya jumlah penduduk, pertumbuhan ekonomi dan konsumsi energi yang sangat tinggi. Lebih dari 86 % dari energi dunia saat ini berasal dari bahan bakar fosil, sementara itu permintaan kebutuhan energi dunia semakin hari tumbuh secara pesat. Salah satu sumber energi terbarukan adalah energi angin. Energi angin merupakan salah satu energi yang ramah lingkungan, sumber energi yang berlimpah dan dapat diperbaharui sehingga sangat berpotensi untuk dikembangkan. Potensi angin di Indonesia pada umumnya memiliki kecepatan angin yang rendah berkisar antara 3 m/s -7 m/s, sehingga jenis turbin angin vertikal dirasa sangat cocok untukdigunakan pada kondisi kecepatan angin rendah. Pada umumnya bentuk turbin angin yang banyak digunakan adalah turbin angin sumbu horizontal, walau demikian turbin angin sumbu vertikal menjadi alternatif untuk menghasilkan energi listrik disebabkan oleh beberapa keuntungan. Turbin angin vertikal memiliki Self Starting yang baik sehingga mampu memutar rotor walaupun kecepatan angin rendah, selain itu torsi yang dihasilkan relatif tinggi (Sargolzaei, 2007). Selain itu juga kelebihan dari turbin angin sumbu vertikal yaitu dapat berputar secara efektif dengan dorongan angin dari segala arah, sehingga sangat cocok untuk daerah yang arah anginnya bervariasi.
