Pembangunan karakter merupakan salah satu bidang yang sangat penting dalam kehidupan bermasayarakat, berbangsa, dan bernegara. Lembaga pendidikan merupakan salah satu wahana pembangunan karakter. Penanaman nilai-nilai karakter berbasis budaya sekolah dapat dilakukan dengan cara memanfaatkan dan memberdayakan semua lingkungan belajar secara optimal untuk menanamkan, memperbaiki, menguatkan, dan menyempurnakan pendidikan karakter. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjabarkan budaya sekolah yang mendorong terbentuknya karakter pada peserta didik di MTs Mambaus Sholihin. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, serta studi dokumen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Madrasah membentuk karakter peserta didik melalui penerapan budaya sekolah. 2) Budaya sekolah yang diterapkan meliputi etika peserta didik kepada pendidik, budaya ketika memulai dan mengakhiri pelajaran, budaya jujur dan tanggung jawab kepada diri sendiri dan orang lain, 3) Karakter yang terbentuk meliputi disiplin, religius, sikap peduli, jujur, dan tanggung jawab.

The purpose of this research is to integrate learning styles in kalam learning by using various strategies and methods that can accommodate various learning styles of learners. The integration in this research means a combination of strategies and learning methods in an effort to improve learning of kalam that accommodates differences in the dominance of students learning styles, visual, aditorial, and kinesthetic. This research is a qualitative research, the researchers go directly to the field of research to explore deeper learning integration models based on student learning styles. This research was conducted at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya with the sampling of research students of the 1 st semester of Arabic Language Education Program. The results of this study, researchers found nine integration: 1) integration of Jigsaw strategies and ta'bir suwar; 2) integration of think pair share strategies and direct method (thoriqoh mubasyarah); 3) integration of effective debate strategies and direct method (thariqoh mubsyarah); 4) integration of card sort strategies and khibroh mutsiroh; 5) integration of everyone is teacher strategies and ta'bir ara' al-roisiyyah; 6) integration of the power of two strategies and muhadtasah; 7) integration of active knowledge strategies and muhadatsah; 8) integration of small group strategies and communication method; 9) integration of gallery or poster session strategies and communication method (ittisholiyyah.

A method in teaching Arabic as a second language is an important tool to meet learning goals and deliver the subject. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Counseling Learning Method (CLM) in Arabic teaching for new students in a university. It investigates the implementation of CLM to improve Arabic speaking skills and the obstacles in it. A qualitative approach is used in this research through observation, interview, and documentation during the Arabic teaching on “Kalam li al Mubtadiin” subject. The Participants of this research are twenty-one first-year students and a lecturer of the Arabic education department at Islamic State University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya. The collected data is processed and analyzed with data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. After that, the results are narrated. The results showed that all stages of CLM implementation, except the discussion stage, were well done, i.e. reflection, recorded conversations, transcriptions, language analysis, and free conversation. The discussion stage was still not running optimally because of some factors including the lack of vocabulary in speaking and the technical obstacles during the recording process.
