Background: Head injuries are a major cause of disability and death under the age of 45 years. The main focus on handling head injury patients is to prevent and limit the occurrence of secondary brain injury which will ultimately affect the outcome of the sufferer. Emergency conditions in head injury patients certainly require quick and appropriate help for better outcome outcomes.Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of respiratory frequency with the outcome of head injury patients in the emergency department of Bangil Hospital Pasuruan Regency. Methods: This research method is quantitative with a cross sectional approach involving 53 respondents. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling method. The outcome of head injury patients was measured using the Trauma and Injury Severity Score (TRISS) scale. Results: Data were analyzed using the Spearman test which showed a relationship p value = 0.013 <α = 0.05 so that H0 was rejected or there was a significant relationship between respiratory frequency (RR) and the outcome of head injury patients. Conclusion: The need for improvement and development of nurse resources through nursing education, emergency training and evaluation of health services at the ED. Keywords: Head Injury, Respiratory Frequency (RR), Outcome.
Background: Communication skills are critical skills that must be possessed by nurses because communication is a dynamic process that is used to collect assessment data, provide education or health information to influence clients to apply it in life, show caring, provide comfort, foster self-confidence and, value respect - client value. Nurses in communicating with clients must have high confidence in the effect of these communications. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences in the effect of standardized patient simulation methods and role play in increasing self-confidence and therapeutic communication skills of students of the Nursing Academy of Pasuruan. Methods: The design of this study is the quasi experimental study. There are two therapeutic communication training groups. Group A uses a Standardized Patient (SP) and, Group B uses the role play (RP) method. The population in this study were students of the Nursing Academy of Pasuruan, and the sample was taken by simple random sampling with a sample size group of 16 standardized patients and a roleplay group of 16 people. The measuring instrument used was an observation sheet on therapeutic communication skills and a questionnaire on confidence in therapeutic communication. The effectiveness of the two methods was analyzed by the non-parametric test, namely the Mann Whitney test, to test 2 unpaired samples. Results: The results of this study indicate that there are differences in standardized patient methods and role play on self-confidence and therapeutic communication skills in nursing academy students who are statistically significant at 0.03 (p=0.05).Conclusion: The standardized patient method is more effective in increasing self-confidence and therapeutic communication skills in nursing academy students compared to the roleplay method. Keywords: Standardized Patient, Roleplay, Therapeutic Communication, Self-Confidence
Kata Kunci : bantuan hidup dasar, santri, pondok pesantren ABSTRACT The incidence of cardiac arrest or cardiac arrest ranges from 10 out of 100,000 ordinary people aged under 35 years and annually reaches around 300,000-350,000 events. Appropriate first aid in cases of cardiac arrest is basic life support (BLS). Action that can be done is cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Cardiopulmonary resuscitation aims to restore spontaneous circulation and maintain vital organ function in cardiac arrest and stop breathing by performing chest compressions and breath support. After this training, the goal is that students will be able to play an active role and be able to provide first aid for cardiac arrest and stopping breathing appropriately and be able to perform CPR. This activity was carried out using the method of presenting theories on the respiratory system's physiological anatomy and the circulatory system, the impact of respiratory and cardiac arrest, basic life support, and on the second day, continued with the practice of CPR through mannequins. The results obtained were most of the students (80%) understood and understood basic life support and were able to practice CPR to the mannequins even though they still needed assistance. Kata Kunci : pemberdayaan, guru pembina PMR, santri, P3K ABSTRACT First aid is the first treatment given before medical help arrives. The principles of P3K are actions that are taken immediately, maintain the victim's life, reduce suffering, prevent fouling wounds and further suffering and refer the victim to the nearest health service place. The youth red cross is an activity of youth in schools in the form of extracurricular activities. This service activity aims to increase the knowledge of PMR guidance teachers and students about first aid training. The methods used are lectures, discussions, and training. There was an increase in knowledge before and after training with an increase in knowledge of 90% from the pre-test results. The participants also practiced how to stop bleeding, splinting, treating wounds, and handling snake bites. Keywords: empowerment of PMR supervisors, students, first aid
Introduction: Positive ability is the ability or positive aspect of an individual to identify the ability that exists in the individual so that clients can choose activities according to their abilities. Patients with low self-esteem see that they are not helpful and feel unable to; by practising positive abilities, they can explore aspects of their positive abilities so that they are expected to see themselves as valuable and become good individuals. Methods: The study used was a literature review of positive ability exercises. Searching for the article is done by Google Scholar or Google Scholar, published from 2015 to 2020, accessed full text in PDF format. Of the five studies used, three used the case study method, one used the Quasi-Experimental Pre-post without control method, and the other used the lecture and discussion method. The search strategy in this literature study uses databases, including Science Direct, Google Scholar and Garuda. Results: A literature review of 7 articles showed that positive ability training varied widely. Conclusions: Positive ability training can overcome nursing problems in patients with schizophrenia with impaired self-concept and low self-esteem.
