The microstructure of ethene/norbornene copolymers produced by metallocene/methylaluminoxane catalysts is investigated by 13 C NMR spectroscopy. The microstructure of alternating copolymers is assigned on the pentad level by comparison of the pentad distribution in 13 C NMR spectra with the calculated distribution according to the alternating mechanism. Norbornene block structures produced with different catalysts are compared, and norbornene diblock structures are assigned. Triad distributions for the alternating copolymers and diad distributions for copolymers containing diblocks were obtained.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
