Efficiency is needed by Islamic Rural Bank (BPRS)to facing rivalry in the banking sector. Efficiency can show the performance of BPRS and make BPRS more productive. This study measures the efficiency of Islamic Rural Banks (BPRS) in East Jawa using data envelopment analysis (DEA). DEA is a non-parametric and deterministic methodology for determining relative efficiency. This study used the intermediation approach and output orientation to measure the efficiency of BPRS. Inputs in this study are deposits, labor, and fixed assets. Outputs in this study are financing and other income. The result shows that the inefficiency exists in the BPRS in East Java. From 21 BPRS, which were used as a sample, 17 BPRS are not efficient technically. The inefficiency of BPRS causes BPRS still can not manage its inputs optimally to producing maximum output. To achieve an efficient level, BPRS needs to increase its output and reduce its input.Keywords: Islamic Rural Banks (BPRS), Efficiency, Performance, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA)

The tourism sector studied consists of hotels, restaurants and halal food, travel agencies and tourism areas. The next objective is to see the economic benefits that will be produced in the future with the application of sharia principles in the tourism sector. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods conducted by interviews, observations and questionnaires to see the response generated through a Likert scale. The results of this study indicate that parties related to the tourism sector provide a positive response to the application of sharia principles in the tourism sector, which will provide economic benefits for the industry players, the public society, and the government.Keywords: Sharia Principles, Halal Tourism, Income, Economic Benefits, Sharia Tourism

Purpose This study aims to discuss the model of community-based cooperation between pesantren businesses, using case study approach toward an Indonesian pesantren community. Design/methodology/approach The data in this research are gathered through through in-depth interviews with Hebitren managements and forum group discussion with the stakeholders of the Hebitren, which includes Hebitren managements themselves, Bank Indonesia and several related ministries. Findings The results show that pesantren business cooperations in Indonesia is related in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This cooperation model is expected to be able to contribute in the effort to accomplish SDGs, which include: no poverty (SDGs 1), quality education (SDGs 4) and partnership for the goals (SDGs 17). Research limitations/implications The models of pesantren business cooperation are not comprehensive because of the various characteristics of pesantren and its model business. Moreover, Hebitren is one of national forum for business pesantren. So, that the results are possibly applicable. Practical implications This research highlights the importance of pesantren’s business unit cooperation management by improving the quality of human resources and business’s infrastructures. This study is a new research model that comprehensively discusses the pesantren community as a form of economic and business development. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this paper is the first model of inter-pesantren business unit network in a pesantren business community comprehensively.
Purpose of the study: This study aims to explore the Sidogiri Islamic Boarding School (IBS) that have Islamic Micro Finance Institutions (IMFI) business portraits and strategies to develop the business model. Methodology: The paper using qualitative method using study case. It observation, interview, and review previous study. Main Findings: Pondok Pasentran (PP) Sidogiri has developed business network model that keeps part of social function. There are three business model that runs by PP Sidogiri; value chain, networking mode, operating model and value preposition . All the business model based on Islamic principles. There are three practical strategies includes the need for integration and awareness related to business models that involve all components of the business network owned by IBS Sidogiri. Implications of the study: This conceptual study highlights practical development strategies for Sidogiri IBS IMFI based on the potential, through business network, management and performance measurement model of PP Sidogiri. Novelty/Originality of this study: The paper suggests development strategies based on the network which involves all components of a large business network owned by PP Sidogiri, including santri, branch madrasa, UGT, alumni and sympathizers who form a unified whole as a business network.
