This study aimed at investigating the effect of blended learning on the English-students’ speaking skills at SMAN 2 Patra Nusa Aceh Tamiang. Also, this study investigated students’ level differences of English-speaking skills of SMA Patra Nusa students. Twenty-five students of the eleventh-grade class were involved in this study. This study used a quasi-experimental with pre-experimental design. The instruments used in this study were observation and test (pretest and posttest). The results of data analysis showed that sig. 2-tailed = 0.000 < α (0.05), it means reject H0, accepted Ha. Finding obtained of pretest 77,04 and posttest 88,95. In conclusion, the mean pretest and posttest scores differ significantly. In other words, blended learning positively affects students speaking skills used in the media google classroom at SMA N 2 Patranusa.
This study uses a case study research method with a qualitative study design. The aims of the study were to find out the domains of Acehnese language shifts in Langsa and the reasons why Acehnese teenagers are shifting their language. Five districts in Langsa, one of the cities in Aceh, Indonesia, became the research location. They were Langsa Kota, Langsa Barat, Langsa Timur, Langsa Baroe and Langsa Lama. The respondents were Acehnese young adults within the age range of 18 to 21 years old. There were 10 respondents from each district, making a total of 50 respondents. The instruments used in this study were observations, a questionnaire, and interviews. Simple statistics were used to analyse the questionnaire, meanwhile the data analysis for the observations and interviews followed an interactive model from Miles and Huberman, namely: data reduction, data display, verification of data, and conclusions. The results showed that the domains of education (30 respondents) and of friendship (27 respondents had the largest number of shifters. Meanwhile, the family domain had the least shifts, so it was concluded that shifts rarely occurred in this domain. Finally, there are three fundamental factors that influenced the shift: environment, habitual usage, and choice of language.
This research aimed to find out Google Classroom effectiveness, which was used to enhance students’ speaking skill. This research used a quasi-experimental with a pre-experimental research design. The subject of this study is the eleventh grade of senior high school at SMA N 1 M. Payed. It involved 25 students as a sample of this study. In the process of data collection, the researcher used a pre-test and post-test. The researcher analyzed the data using Wilcoxon Ranks Test to test the hypothesis. This study found the value of significance (2-tailed) was lower than the significance level (0.000 < 0.05), then the Ha was accepted. It means there was a significant value on students’ achievement of the speaking skill by using Google Classroom. Finding obtained of pretest 71,20 and posttest 78,16. In conclusion, the mean pretest and posttest scores differ significantly, or there is an effect of using google classroom enhancing students speaking skill at SMA N 1 Manyak Payed. However, it can be concluded that Google Classroom significantly affects students’ speaking skill and helps them finish and collect the assignment without any bound by time and space.Keywords: google classroom; teaching English; Covid-19
This research aims to develop an authentic assessment instrument product based on language literacy with a scaffolding model that is oriented towards reading skills. This research method uses research and development methods. The research results show that the preliminary research phase describes the results of curriculum analysis and student analysis. At the product development stage and validation by experts, the percentage of authenticity instrument eligibility consisting of three indicators is 82%. It can be concluded that the instrument is suitable for use in learning activities. The practicality stage given to 20 students in one of the Manyak Payed Public High Schools, Aceh Tamiang District, consisted of four alternative answers, 25% were declared practical. Thus, high school teachers are advised to use the scaffolding model as a solution to improve reading comprehension and language literacy skills.
This study aimed to investigate the EFL students' perceptions on online based-learning amid the Covid 19 using WhatsApp and google classroom applications at the first semester unit two of the English department Universitas Samudra. This research was conducted as descriptive quantitative method. The instrument of this research was questionnaire consisted of 16 items covered by Likert scale of respond as EFL students' perception. The sampling consists of 28 students of the first semester unit two at English Department Universitas Samudra. The research findings showed that the students had positive perceptions towards the use of WhatsApp and Google Classroom since they accommodated the students' needs to apply a technology in their learning. It can be seen from EFL student's perceptions in using WhatsApp and google classroom as media online in teaching learning process. Both online platforms were commonly used for the students. To complete the required data, the researchers have taken 28 samples of respondents regarding the use of online learning by the first-semester students majoring at English Department in Samudra University. A total of 17 students from 28 students strongly agreed that WhatsApp was more effective than the google classroom platform. who were sampled or equivalent 39,28% (11 students) of the survey sample stated that they unfamiliar enough with online learning it means they prefer to face to face than online learning.
