Adipocyte dysfunction plays an important role in the obesity development. People with a body weight 40 % heavier than the average body weight population at risk of death two times greater than the average body weight. The use of anti-obesity drugs have many side effects, so it is necessary to find the anti-obesity drug with low toxicity. This ex vivo study was conducted to determine the activity of C. longa L. extract in inhibiting triglycerides and cholesterol synthesis and lipid droplet formation on HepG2 cells compared to curcumin. Methods: Anti-obesity activity includes reduced formation of lipid droplet in HepG2 cells can be observed using oil red O staining method. The measurement of triglyceride level was performed according to Randox protocol using Randox TR 210 assay kit. Lipolytic activity by measuring cholesterol levels was performed based on Randox CH 200 kits. Results: This study suggested that the extract of C. longa L. and curcumin have potential anti-obesity compounds. C. longa L. extract have higher activity in inhibiting triglycerides and cholesterol synthesis compared to curcumin with inhibition activities 70.43% and 66.38% respectively in the highest concentration. Conclusion: The C. longa extract posses the anti-adipogenesis potential on inhibiting the synthesis of triglycerides and cholesterol and lipid droplet formation in HepG2 cell as anti-obesity parameters better than curcumin.
Kelelahan dan kurang tidur pada pemain basket dapat menyebabkan penurunan kewaspadaan dan fungsi eksekutif sehingga mengganggu kinerja olahraga. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) akut terhadap peningkatan kewaspadaan dan fungsi eksekutif pada pemain basket. Metode penelitian ini adalah eksperimental semu yang bersifat analitik dengan desain pre test-post test. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 30 orang laki- laki pemain basket yang diberi perlakuan HIIT dengan melakukan 12 gerakan yang masing – masing gerakannya berdurasi 30 detik dan diselingi dengan istirahat antara gerakan satu dengan gerakan lainnya selama 10 detik sesuai dengan aplikasi 7-minute workout dalam satu kali pertemuan (akut). Data yang diukur adalah waktu (detik) yang dibutuhkan dalam menyelesaikan Johnson-Pascal Test dan Trail Making Test Part ‘B’ sebelum dan sesudah melakukan HIIT. Analisis data menggunakan uji “t” berpasangan (? = 0,05). Hasil penelitian rerata Johnson Pascal Test post test 108,17 detik (SD ± 14,842) lebih cepat daripada rerata pre test 129,43 detik (SD ± 19,977) (p<0,05). Hasil rerata Trail Making Test Part ‘B’ post test 29,64 detik (SD ± 11,99) lebih cepat daripada rerata pre test 44,91 detik (SD ± 16,33) (p<0,05). Clover flower honey is a herbal therapy used as an alternative wound treatment. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of Clover flower honey in accelerating incision wound healing, enhancing reepithelization degree, increasing fibroblast density, and collagen. This was a true experimental research, using 25 mice divided into 5 groups (n=5); positive control group (feracrylum 1%), negative control group (aquadest), 100% honey group, 50% honey group, and 25% honey group. Wound healing activity was measured macroscopically with calipers, dan microscopically through pathological anatomy preparations to observe reepithelization degree and collagen density. This study showed wound incision lengths were different significantly between Clover flower honey 100%, 50%, and 25% compared to aquadest (p ≤ 0.05), and feracrylum 1% (p ≤ 0.05). Reepithelization degree, fibroblast and collagen density measurements between Clover flower honey 100%, 50%, and 25% were different significantly compared with aquadest (p ≤ 0.05), and only the 100% honey group was different significantly with feracrylum 1% (p ≤ 0.05). We concluded topical Clover flower honey administration accelerated wound healing, increased reepithelization degree, fibroblast density, and collagen degree.Keywords : wound healing, reepithelization degree, fibroblast density, collagen density, Clover flower honey
