This is the second of a series of papers dealing with the statistics of heart disease morbidity and mortality. The papers are the result of a Public Healtb Service study carried on jointly by the National Office of Vital Statistics and the Division of Public Health Methods with the cooperation of the Division of States Relations. ' In 1930 the median age of the urban population of the United States was 28.4 years as contrasted with 25.8 years for the rural-nonfarm and 21.6 years for the rural-farm population. The corresponding figures In 1940 were 31.0, 27.7 and 24.4 years.
