Development Questionnaire II (Student) is to obtain feedback from respondents, the students associated with the Program Implementation Evaluation Diploma in Mechatronics Engineering at the Polytechnic towards Industrial Requirements in Malaysia. This study was conducted to produce empirical evidence about the validity and reliability of the questionnaire II (Student) using Rasch Measurement Model. A pilot study was conducted at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Polytechnic Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on 38 students in their final semester of a diploma program in Mechatronic Engineering. Validity and reliability of the questionnaire II (Students) were measured using Rasch Measurement Model Winsteps Version 3.69.1.11. Rasch analysis showed respondents reliability index is 0.97 and reliability index is 0.91.From the point of polarity items, each item can contribute to the measurement because the PTMEA CORR each item above 0.30, which is between 0.30 to 0.81. Appropriateness test shows 23 items in the questionnaire should be dropped and the second item MNSQ repaired because the outfit has to be outside the range between 0.6 to 1.40. These findings provide the dimensions of the construct validity of the questionnaire, which constructs the implementation of the teaching and learning process, use of facilities and equipment for teaching and learning and assessment. Rasch Measurement Model has shown that the questionnaire II (Students) have a high validity and reliability for use in measuring the evaluation of Diploma in Mechatronics Engineering Program implementation at Polytechnic College in regards to the Industrial Requirement in Malaysia.
Educational supervision is one of the most important supports for the educational system and educator’s professional development. This paper attempts to highlight the importance role of educational supervisor in digital age. There are three significance factors for efficient educational supervision in the higher educational institution which are Teaching & Learning,Digital Ethics and Training and Professional Development. Education is no longer restricted to considering human needs and the requirements of thepresent, but it seeks to address and reflect on developing human skills and capacities, and thenecessities of the future. Digital age demand the educatorsto undertake life-long, upgrading, reviewing of their ownprofessional learning and adopting continuous professional development. In order to help students to gainaccess to information independentlyand practice the digital ethics, educator in digital age needs a new approaches to teach includingthose that emphasize high order thinking skills, constructivists approaches tolearning and understanding, co-operative learning strategies, multipleintelligence, and the use of computer-based and other technology related. At this stage, the most suitable training for the right person at the right time is required and a Training Need Analysis (TNA) is crucially necessary. CUDBAS is one of the approaches for TNA to structure the training need. The quality ofeducation cannot be improved by only adding more resources into the system. It also calls foreffective management of these resources at the school level, ensuring an effective system ofprofessional supervision, and preventing the deterioration of essential support structures foreducators. Through quality collaboration, educators could move from their subjectivity anddraw some conclusions about their experiences and views. This makes educationalsupervision, which is a co-operative problem-solving process a crucial concept in theprofessional development of educators.
21 st century learning focuses on the flow of information, media, and technology. In Malaysia, many university students face problems in English writing. Thus, students should be exposed to the technology training in innovative ways to produce students with a dynamic in this ever-changing world. Recently, the transformation and the evolution of mobile have created a huge impact on mobile users, as it is the current trend. Due to this matter, university students are now experiencing innovative learning development through mobile application and this can certainly improve their learning performance. The purpose of the study is to examine the application of mobile learning technologies through mind mapping applications for augmenting writing performance at Malaysian universities. The study was based on three different research theories -Flower and Hayes Writing Process Model, Radiant Thinking Theory, and Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). The results of the study show that the students had positive responses towards English writing skills background, mobile technologies application background and mind mapping applications background. The proposed conceptual framework, Mobile-assisted Mind Mapping Technique Model (MMMTM) supports the need for Malaysian university students to augment their writing performance. It is hoped that this study will benefit the policymakers, tertiary educators and university students in teaching and learning specifically in writing courses.
Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) institutions play a crucial role in development of human capital required to transform the developing countries into fully developed nations. The technical skills acquire by the students are led by the industrial needs. However, technical courses are popular among the male students and only a small number of female students enroll into TVET institutions. This paper investigates the gender inequality issues and challenges in TVET education. A comparative study in terms of internship and promotions are included. Consequently, this paper also highlights on the technical and vocational career lines as an alternative pathway for TVET graduates to achieve career success and enhanced social inclusion through higher salaries, job status and educational attainment. The findings indicate that employability of the graduates were related to the individual’s strength and organization’s ability to appreciate, motivate and support the individuals in their career progression regardless the gender
