LONG-TERM EVOLUTION OF THE FISH COMMUNITY OF THE SEINE RIVER.
ABSTRACTAfter a brief description of the fish fauna of the Seine River basin, we attempt to measure the conséquences of human activities since the beginning of the last century on the fish community structure, using historical data recorded from old literature.
The authors describe a new record for the french ichtyofaune: Pseudorasbora parva (SCHLEGEL, 1842). They give informations about the present distribution and origin in France.
LIFE-HISTORY TRAITS OF THE FISH FAUNA OF FRENCH RIVERS :FIRST RESULTS.
ABSTRACTFive life-history traits of 34 freshwater fish species widely distributed within the French rivers are examined. Our results are in good agreement with the classification of WINEMILLER and ROSE (1992) between equilibrium, periodic and opportunistic stratégies. Most French fishes must be considered as periodic strategists.
