13C and 16N dipolar relaxation rates of poly(vinylamine) and poly(iminoethylene) were measured.Relaxation in poly(vinylamine) is consistent with relatively unhindered rotation of the NH3+ group. At neutral pH, the rotation rate is slowed, consistent with hydrogen bonding between alternate NH3+ and NH2 groups. Rotational jump rates and barriers are reported. The motion of the NH groups of poly(iminoethylene) is more restricted relative to the polymer backbone CH2 groups. This is reflected by the 16N/13C NTi ratios.
A direct spectrophotometric method for the quantitative determination of ammonia gas at atmospheric pressure utilizes the absorption maximum of ammonia at 204.3 m/x (e, 3127) which allows determinations from 7 p.p.m. (5 y per liter) to 1000 p.p.m. of ammonia in air.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
