Compound states of high excitation in "' Mg have been observed, with good resolution, in the total neutron yield from a-particle bombardment of ' Ne. Bombarding energies were from 1 to 5 MeV.Analysis of the areas under the yield curves gives n-particle strength functions of S = 0.031+ 0,021 for "Ne+ a and S = 0.026+ 0.012 for ' Ne+ u. For astrophysical purposes these strength functions are used to extrapolate the averaged cross sections to lower energies.
The total neutron yield of the reaction u C(a,n) 17 0 has been measured in the alpha-particle bombardingenergy range of 2.5 to 5.1 MeV. Six new anomalies were observed in the yield curve at alpha-particle energies of 4.030±0.015, 4.07±0.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
